How to book the best vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To get the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Morehead City restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Sea Spray 201 - Walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
