How to get the best Morehead City vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • To find the best value, change your family's Morehead City vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Queens Court 3303, Oceanview Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
