Our top Emerald Isle rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • First, have your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT HALF DUPLEX SLEEPS 9 w 4 BDRMS, 3 ARE OCEANVIEW! BEST PART OF E ISLE! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
