Booking the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the best rental home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Home with Private Pool & Elevator (Happy Ours) has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
