Tricks and tips to get the optimal Morehead City vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Morehead City vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation home in Emerald Isle:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Cozy 3 BR cottage in quiet neighborhood. Close to Emerald Isle's attractions. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
