Tips to get the best Morehead City vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Charming, warm & tranquil historic downtown New Bern home has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
