Morehead City rental home booking tips and tricks:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Blocks to the Beach! Huge Patio & Fenced-In Backyard. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
