Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your Morehead City vacation home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful views from our 2nd row home with updates has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
