Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Morehead City area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental home:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beautiful private beach house with access to sound has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
