Strategies to get the best Morehead City rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful 5 BR Soundfront home featuring Boat Slip, Saline Pool, Fire Pit, Hot T has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
