Tricks and tips to get the very best Morehead City vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • To find the best value, change your family's Morehead City trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Just for the Halibut East
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
