Want a restful vacation, with just enough to keep the family entertained, but not be overwhelmed with hordes and traffic? Located on a peaceful island, just off the North Carolina Coast, this comfortable, 3 bedroom, 4 bath home is over 2300 square feet.
THE HOME IS NOT DESIGNED FOR AND PROHIBITS GROUPS OR UNRELATED FRIENDS.
The home has 2 unique features - it is soundfront with a pier into the sound and 2 separate living areas - one on the first floor - with a queen sleeper futon, as well as a living area with couch, adore seat and entertainment center, a full bath and outside access onto a modest patio. A reminder that this sleeping area is in a public space!
The top (3rd!) floor is the main living area with open space kitchen, dining, full bath, and 2 separate seating areas! An additional queen sleeper futon is off to the side in a reading nook. - this is a public space and offers NO privacy - ideal for teens or kids, or the early riser in the family. It has a pretty deck with tall Adirondack chairs for sound and island vistas.
The middle floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. All bedrooms come with flatscreen TV's with DISH access. The master has a queen sized bed and a 4 piece, ensuite, with jetted tub and 5 foot shower! The 2nd bedroom also has a queen sized bed. Both open onto the sound side deck. The 3rd bedroom has a bunk with a "full" sized bottom and a single upper. The washer and dryer are on this floor for handy access.
The top floor is open design with tons of vistas. It includes the kitchen, dining area, reading area, TV area. The dining room table seats 8 with 4 additional barstools at the kitchen counter. The kitchen is equipped with all the modest appliances and standard amenities. A standard gas grille is included. There is also an electric fireplace for cool weather visiting.
The kitchen is equipped with all standard appliances and dishes/silverware, pots and pans for feeding your crowd. You will also find enough basics - paper towels, TP, paper plates/cups, dish soap, laundry soap, coffee, sugar, etc -(you get the picture!) so you don't need to dash off to the store.
The pace on this 20 mile island is laid back, but the area provides many family-aligned amenities. There is a NC Aquarium 2 miles away with programs and scheduled activities. Day trips are comfortably available to light homes and outer banks picnicking. There are even a couple golf courses less than 30 mins. away. Local eateries specialize in fresh caught seafood, but provide choices for all landlubbers. Any last min. needs are close by in major chain stores, top line grocery stores, a regional hospital or walk-in and emergency medical care without the big city, tourist center craziness.
The home's private pier leads to the sound for fishing, clamming, sailing. It is a little shallow for bigger speedboats, except at high tide, but it is great for modest kids, sailing, kayaking, jet skis, and sunset viewing. (We do NOT provide any recreational cars......) There is a local marina just 1 mile away in Salter Path (Indian Beach) where you launch water cars....and a rental place less than 2 miles away.
The ocean access is just 3 tenths of a mile away in Salter Path. It is recommended that folks with modest kids drive and make the 3 min. trip with toys, chairs, etc. since it is on the main road. It is a well-kept secret, because even on holiday weekends, it is simple to find parking and a 'spot' on the beach with some space to spread out your towels, and family - no 'elbow to elbow, listening to someone else's music'. It has outside showers, bathrooms, and grilles, and a good number of parking spaces, many of which are shaded. The beach is wide and sandy, and the water has a gradual slope out, providing tons of safe places to swim and skim board. (The home has an enclosed outside shower with hot and cold water to rinse off sandy feet.)
A modest amusement park and 2 theaters are within a few mins. drive and provide change of pace activities when you a need a break from the sun, sea and salt.
Everything you would need for a peaceful vacation is less than 15 mins. away
Morehead City, Cape Carteret, and Beaufort are modest close by (less than 20 miles!) towns with tons of appeal, as well as art galleries, local museums, antique stores and fresh shopping. New Bern, NC is 45 mins. away and has a real castle, and many historic amenities.

Our top Indian Beach rental home booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Morehead City area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Single family home, but space for 2 families or multigenerational stays! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
