Finding the best vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Morehead City area. Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick the right Morehead City vacation home:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. R&R, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 11 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
