Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • To find the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Resort style living in small town Beaufort NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
