GG's bungalow was constructed in 1936 and has undergone recent major renovations with more improvements planned. It's a phenomenal place with options for calming: on the sizable covered porch with privacy walls, ocean view, ceiling fans, nice breeze, tons of comfortable outdoor seating, and a picnic table; or relax on the beach with direct access using private pathway from porch; or on the private boardwalk with benches and chairs to savor full sun and umbrella available if preferred; or in the cavernous living room with ocean vistas, Wi Fi, and intelligent / Roku TV. There is an outdoor enclosed shower with hot and cold water.

The bungalow has tons of space inside:
MAIN FLOORING has a sizable entry entryway and huge main bathroom with tub & shower combo; kitchen off the entryway with huge refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee makers (drip & Keurig), plenty of cooking supplies; enormous dining room with plenty of chairs, even a second drop-leaf table if needed; roomy living room with Intelligent Roku TV and DVD, games, books, & puzzles; 2 bedrooms: 1 ocean front bedroom with queen bed; 1 double bedroom also with a double-size futon;
UPPER FLOORING has 1 queen bedroom with half bathroom, 1 double bedroom, and 2 rooms with 2 twin beds each; and full bathroom at end of hall, accessible to all.

Boardwalk Blvd or close by on the island: Atlantic Beach Circle with many activities and stores (.2 mi) , Island Grille (also has large beachfront venue for weddings and events) (.4 mi), Oceanana Restaurant & fishing pier (1 mi), Tackle Box Tavern (.1 mi), Amos Mosquitos Restaurant (.9 mi), Table 9 Restaurant & Oyster Bar (1.2 mi), Crab's Claw Oceanfront Caribbean Seafood Restaurant (.2 mi), beach stores, brewery, and much more.

Morehead City rental home tips and tricks:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Morehead City attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing a perfectrental:

  • To start, have your group choose date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront - GG's Cottage, Bogue Banks, Atlantic Beach, NC has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
