Our top Emerald Isle rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental:

  • To start, have your family choose dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. First Floor Coastal Comfort in Oceanfront Complex with 3 pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Morehead City attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
