Rental home tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental home in Beaufort:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. It's an easy 10 minute stroll to downtown has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
