Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Morehead City area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best rental home in Atlantic Beach:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Great Get away, 3rd Floor, Ocean View Beach Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
