Emerald Isle rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Morehead City attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group commit to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Stunning, Family sized, fully furnished home with pool at Spinnaker's Reach. has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
