Tips for getting the best rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Dolphin Watch East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
