Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Short walk to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a specific Morehead City destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
