Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Why Knot Getaway...Rooftop with WaterView! Unit D has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
