Tips to get the optimal Morehead City rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your Morehead City rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Waterfront Waterway Home in Beaufort on the Neuse River, Family and Pet friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
