Finding the best rental value:

• Summer months are high season in the Morehead City area. To get the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
• Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
• Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
• Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
• Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

• Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
• Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
• Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
• Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
• Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
• Record a video to document the condition of the property.
• Did you have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words.
