Tricks and tips to get the perfect Morehead City rental home experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:

  • First, have your group commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Lovely 3 bed\/2.5 bath ~ 4 minute walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
