How to find the best rental experience:

When to visit New Bern & When to book:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, change your family's Morehead City vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Morehead City rental home:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Hip Newly Renovated Historic Riverside Home in New Bern, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
