Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • In the Morehead City area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect rental home in New Bern:

  • Select your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Downtown 3BR walk everywhere to downtown shops and restaurants. 2 blocks away has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. Otherwise, call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
