Treat yourself to a local bottle of wine and celebrate the coastal life with a visit to the homegrown Somerset Cellars winery. Specializing in private labeled wines and producing roughly 20 different types of wine at any given time, Somerset Cellars is Carteret County’s first and oldest Federal Bonded Winery, and is a must-stop for wine lovers who want to sample the local flavors.
Somerset Cellars is located along Arendell Street, just west of the heart of the Morehead City Downtown Area. Though the winery might not look like much from the outside, the interior is nicely inviting, with a row of the latest bottles lined up and ready to sample. The grapes used for each wine are imported from all over the country and / or the world, and the knowledgeable staff and owners are happy to help patrons discover a bottle that perfectly suits their palette. Because the wines are not available in local stores, visitors are encouraged to load up to ensure they can enjoy plenty of great tastes well after their vacation is over. Accommodating, enticing, and a secret gem along the Morehead City food and drink scene, Somerset Cellars is a perfectly delicious sample of how tasty the Crystal Coast can be.
