Floyd’s 1921 Restaurant and Catering is a longstanding Morehead City destination for inspired lunch, dinner and catering services, and has been a Crystal Coast landmark of sorts since first opening its doors in 2005.
The restaurant is the brainchild of owner and chef Floyd Olmstead, who was raised along the Crystal Coast, but left the region to pursue his dream of being a world-class chef. After a 22-year career that took Floyd to the top restaurants in Florida, he returned home to open his restaurant, and create southern dishes with a global influence of flavors, including Asian, Latin and Caribbean.
Today, the menu at Floyd’s 1921 features all the southern staples, like shrimp and grits, fried oyster and andouille sausage gumbo, and golden fried seafood, but often with a unique little twist. Even the Low Country meatloaf gets a little makeover, thanks to fresh southern gravy and grilled onions, and the appetizers selection is a southerner’s dream, with fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, and classic fried oysters all available for hungry guests. Floyd’s 1921 is also a popular option for catering, with unique menus that can accommodate events of all styles and tastes. A top-rated local favorite, Floyd’s 1921 is often considered a “must eat” for longtime Crystal Coast vacationers from all across the country.
