Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your Morehead City vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sound Of The Sea East 125, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
