Strategies for getting the perfect Morehead City rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • In the Morehead City area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 1st Floor Unit With Ocean View, Swimming Pool, Elevators has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
