Tricks and tips to get the perfect Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Morehead City vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. "Self Sea-esta" Beautiful Cottage 2nd row to ocean in Emerald Isle has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
