Strategies for getting the perfect Morehead City rental experience:

When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Morehead City area. Reserve your Morehead City rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Morehead City area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. "Self Sea-esta" Beautiful Cottage 2nd row to ocean in Emerald Isle has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
