How to find the best New Bern rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. To get the best rental within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the best rental home:

  • Choose vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Sea Turtle Cottage - walk to everything! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
