Tricks and tips to get the perfect Morehead City vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Morehead City vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing the rightrental:

  • To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront duplex with beautiful sunset views has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City beach you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
