Money-saving Tips

  • Many rental managers and rental properties provide Morehead City area travel magazines which include promotions, either offered independently by merchants, or by a partnership between the property management company and the local itself. Keep an eye out for these books and promotional books, as this allows travelers to enjoy the very same activities at a typically significantly discounted.
  • Want to steer clear of the crowds? Off-season rates are usually a fraction of maximum prices.
  • A number of property management companies and owners offer price reductions for active duty and veteran members of the Military, or repeat guests of the same vacation home. Be sure to check with vacation rental company to see if your vacationing crew is eligible for a rate reduction.
  • Some properties are basically designed to serve specific travelers, whether it is oceanside homes with weekly fishing pier passes, city-center condos with nearby access to restaurants or waterfront homes that have private jetski launching areas. Make sure that you prioritize your proximity to the adventures and locations you are most looking forward to.
  • Give thought to getting trip insurance along with your lease agreement. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the basic rental rate, offers guests reimbursement of their travel expenses for any missed resulting from medical emergencies or weather, and additionally ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected motel stay or additional fuel. Trip insurance might just be a bank account-saver if the unforseen occurs (heaven forbid!).

How to Book a Rental Home

Rental homes are gaining in popularity among vacationers, and visitors will find that the sheer number of rental properties available allows them to find an suitable retreat to fit their Morehead City crew, from relaxing condos to huge event homes with several bedrooms.

Vacation rentals are frequently owner operated or managed by rental management companies. For owners not directly involved with the management of their rental, management companies are critical in helping guests with reserving, check-in, house cleaning, as well as maintenance problems that may occur.

Below are great tips and suggestions to help you navigate the rental home search and booking process.

How to find and reserve the best vacation rental:

Do you believe "Moonlight Lake RV Park Lots for rent" is the perfect rental home for your next family vacation? Look over this checklist to ensure it fits all of your needs.

The Earlier, The Better

Morehead City rental homes book several months (and up to a year) in advance. To find the best selection, start your planning and search 6-12 months before your trip. Holiday gatherings can be a great time for families to plan their Summer holiday escapes..

Pick a Community and Date

Oftentimes, the hardest part of preparing for your vacation is figuring out where to search, and when. When the big decisions are tackled, everything else becomes easier.

Bedrooms and Bed Sizes Matter

Confirm who is traveling, and just how many/what particular bedroom configuration you need to have. Remember that a lot of rentals list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in the family room. You'll need to figure out what is acceptable for the company. Generally rental listings will outline each of the unit's specific bedrooms and beds.

Determine Your Budget

Make sure "Moonlight Lake RV Park Lots for rent" fits your budget *during your desired week*. If many groups or loved ones are sharing the cost, check to make sure each group knows their responsibility and has approved a maximum they are willing to chip in. Most rental agreements require a single individual to be in charge of the full reservation.

Its All About Amenities

What amenities is your group searching for? Are you looking for a rental property with outside kitchen? Are you more interested in wildlife or amusements? Are sheets included with the rental, or will you need to take your own? Gather a list of prioritized "necessities and wishes" from your party to help filter your search to the most suitable rental.

Accessibility and Special Issues

Elderly guests will thank you for not reserving a stairs-access-only condo on the 3rd floor. Be sure to remember and ask about wheel chair access, pool lifts and special equipment needs..

Paws-Friendly, Please

Do not forget to include your companion! Animal policies are different at each property. Study descriptions carefully. A number of limitations might dismiss a prospective rental. Examine your agreement carefully! Charges may apply when pets are included. Ask questions *well before* you reserve!

Searching the Internet

Once the location, travel dates and guests are decided, search multiple resources for the greatest rental selection. Besides Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we suggest searching Google for "Morehead City local rentals" for local vacation rental management companies. Besides offering distinctive rental properties, local agencies provide top-notch service..

Negotiate the Price

Re-read the description to make certain that the property has everything that you need. If it is something is missing, the home management company might know of similar properties that fit your style and budget..

Although not true for all rental properties, many rental owners and property managers will negotiate rates. If the price isn't negotiable, the number of nights might be. Your greatest possibility of a lower rate is switching to an off-season week.

Study the Total Contract

Find out which of the following is included in your quoted rate:

  • Utility bills
  • WIFI Access
  • Long Distance Calls
  • Hot Tub Heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Cleaning services and housekeeping
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance policies
  • Key exchange
  • Parking Fees

Be sure that your quote includes all state taxes and fees.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

Cancellation policies are different with each rental. Rental management companies and individual rental owners commonly offer their clients the choice to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs somewhere between 1% - 5% of your base rental home price, can provide travellers with reimbursement of their vacation costs (and subsequent vacation property costs) for any days missed a result of personal health related emergencies or weather, and additionally hurricane evacuation expenses, such as a unexpected motel stay or additional gas.

Reserve It

After you feel you've found "the one", start the booking process. Remember that most rental agreements require a significant rental down payment and/or security deposit to safeguard the rental home owner.

Know Who to Call

Put the property manager's contact info into your smart phone and wallet for easy access to answers during your trip.

Good luck on reserving your vacation home! You're on your way to a terrific vacation!

During your Stay

  • Record the condition of the rental unit right away. Contact the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a difference of opinion about legal responsibility later, having the documented problems and communication attempts should be useful.
  • Ask questions. When there's any ambiguity about vehicle parking, rules of the property, house access, pool functions, etc... we advise you ask the rental home manager immediately. A brief phone call prevents many head aches.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Residents more often than not live within earshot. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a vacation a good deal more enjoyable.
  • Ask a local. Locals may point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best pizza, have a great date night, or the best places for night life?
  • Enjoy your stay! Be sure to protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the property locked up when you are away, exactly like you would at home.

Leaving Paradise

  • Clean up a bit. Despite the fact that you're spending money on a housekeeping fee, The rental home should really be in good condition. Sinks stuffed with dishes, excessive beach sand on the flooring and sticky messes should be taken care of prior to leaving.
  • Once everything is out, begin a walk-through of the rental to confirm no damage occurred during your remain. When possible, do this walk-out review with the property owner present. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you love your rental? Many rental home management companies and rental home sites make it easy for customers to offer reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was outstanding, they'll appreciate your compliments. If anything went wrong and they didn't correct it in a acceptable manner, or if the rental home was not as described, you should note that as part of your review.

Use Your Experience

Did they like the rental? Hopefully everything was perfect and you are excited to re-book the rental home for next year. Maybe the rental home was not ideal, and you'll better recognize how to filter your search for the next trip.
