How to get the best Morehead City vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Morehead City trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the best rental in the Morehead City area:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Hear and See the Sound of the Sea has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
