Strategies to get the very best Morehead City rental home experience:

Getting the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Morehead City area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking yourrental home:

  • Start by having your group select date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Fairfield Harbor New Bern has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. message the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
