Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Morehead City area. Booking your Morehead City vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick yourrental home:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Fun in the sun only steps from your door! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's a particular Morehead City destination you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
