This 2400-acre resort has every kind of water activity and for good reason: it sits on the banks of the Neuse River, which ultimately winds its way to the Atlantic. Plus, a Venice-like canal system runs through the property, and a alluring lake is also on the premises. Sailing is marvelous on the Neuse River, which is bigger than it looks in photos. Another good bet: the River Cruise. There are spectacular bicycle trails, a calming way to take in the breathtaking beauty. If you don't want to be active, that's fine, too, here. This is a laid-back vacation where you get a lot for your money. All Fairways Villa units are on the golf course.

By all means, bring your family to this resort. The one and two-bedroom suites are cavernous, some up to 1500 square feet, and comfortably sleep four to eight guests. All suites have kitchens with microwave and dishwasher, but if you really want to prepare, ask for a unit with a full kitchen. A washer and dryer in each suite are great amenities. Rooms are charmingly decorated and spotless, a enjoyment to stay here and you'll be glad you booked a second week.

New Bern is a city rich in history. Take a Walking Tour: there are three historic districts with homes, stores, and churches dating to the early 1700s. A don't-miss site: Tryon Palace, an charming Georgian-style restored mansion set on fourteen acres of grounds with broad gardens, ranging from English to kitchen gardens. The palace is furnished with an magnificant collection of antiques and art. Middle Street has tons of great eateries. Baker's Square has home-cooking, and Almond Tree Cafe takes first place for the best ice cream.

Our top Rental property booking tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
