Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Get the best value:

  • Summer is high season in the Morehead City area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Morehead City area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the best Morehead City rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Updated beach cottage with enclosed patio, 2 decks, grill, AC, & W\/D has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Morehead City beach you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

More considerations:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
