How to book the best Morehead City vacation rental experience:

When to book a Morehead City rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your search:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Take Me A Wave - Pier Pointe 7A2, Emerald Isle, Oceanview, poolside second floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
