Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Morehead City area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Morehead City area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the rightvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3 Bed\/2.5 Bath 1450 sq ft with Large Open Floor Plan, 3 Min Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
