Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Dancing Dolphin, Almost Oceanfront House in Indian Beach, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Morehead City rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Morehead City beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
