Since around 1990, Morehead City has spent considerable money rebuilding its waterfront. The result is an eye-pleasing mix of waterside walks surrounded by a colorful array of retail shops, commercial fish houses, and restaurants.
Visiting cruisers and landlubbers alike will want to set their sights on Morehead City for the North Carolina Seafood Festival the first weekend in October. This festival is a potpourri of seafood, arts, and street entertainment. Visitors can really blow their diets by wandering up and down Evans Street sampling the succulent fare at the various booths.
One of the largest charter-fishing fleets on the Atlantic coast is based in Morehead City. Waterfront visitors are sure to notice the long lines of fishing craft advertising for sportsmen to try their luck. Fishing in the Morehead City area can be quite productive.
