Our top Rental booking tips:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, shift your family's Morehead City vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Morehead City area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Morehead City area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • To start, have your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. NEW Look-Luxury Oceanfront Home in Dolphin Ridge W\/ Pool & Hot Tub????Epic Views has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
