Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Beaufort rental home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Morehead City vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Morehead City visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Coral Cottage in Beaufort Historical District has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
